About the bean:

Most coffee from Tanzania is produced by small farmers on land averaging only half a hectare, typically grown on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest and most recognizable peak, under the shade of banana trees.

Coffee from Tanzania is somewhat similar to its northern neighbour Kenya and shares the same grading process, based on bean size, with AA the largest and highest grade as per this week's offering.

The common profile for coffees from this region is sharp with a winey acidity, a medium to full body, rich in flavour. 

What you can expect from our Tanzania AA Coffee of the Week -
good appearance with a screen size of 17. A full body with a light citrus acidity, intense flavour and an excellent aroma; long aftertaste.

Altitude: 1,000 to 2,500 masl.
Harvest period: November to February
Cup profile: Bright and vibrant


Roasting Recommendation: City+ to Full City+, but can be roasted darker. Vienna is a fine option, too. Good for espresso at a darker roast level. Refer to our roasting guide here.
