About the bean

Nestled in Brazil’s southeastern Minas Gerais, the Cerrado Mineiro region boasts a 300-year coffee legacy shaped by its high-altitude terroir, mineral-rich soils, and dramatic temperature shifts that yield beans with a sun-kissed smooth, well-balanced brilliance. Sustainable practices including precision water management, shade cultivation, and selective harvesting have helped local farmers here to cultivate iconic varietals such as Bourbon, Catuai, and Mundo Novo.

Beyond these recommendations, Brazilian Cerrado is quite simply a versatile staple we don’t like to be without. Excellent for espresso, drip, French press, and Aeropress, we also like to play around with this forgiving, adaptable bean as a base for blends, where it tempers more acidic coffees with its pleasing consistency.

Back in the day, before coffee prices went bananas, the Brazilian Cerrado was a budget-friendly choice for roasting experimentation. Rising prices have placed it closer to mid-tier options currently but the Cerrado nevertheless remains a rewarding roast. Although naturally processed coffees can be tricky (prone to quick darkening), this bean is a winner across the spectrum of profiles. Pro-tip: Mix post-roast with African or Central varieties for a custom flavour kick!
