About the bean

This nano-lot from the veiled heights of Pantelhó is nestled in the rugged Tzotzil/Tzeltal Mayan region, part of the broader Chiapas highlands. Produced by smallholders nurtured in precious little lots, this offering represents the journey of thoughtful alliances, resilient communities, and time-honoured traditions.

Curated for us by Queen Bean and Beannerds, a Chiapas-based specialty startup, expect an ultra-unique blend that songs together Catuaí, Costa Rica, and Bourbon varietals in layers of refined elegance, intricate depth, and graceful balance. We were absolutely thrilled to get our hands on this truly special coffee. Regional conflicts make export a real challenge—so every bag feels like a small victory. Expect a vibrant, sweet, and remarkably clean cup with a sweetness that hits like soft brown sugar, bright and inviting. A gentle, lively acidity dances between red and yellow fruit—a juicy middle ground that keeps things refreshing without becoming sharp. A beauty, rare and raw.

For home roasters, these beans are dense, a bit stubborn, and may show some uneven development. That’s exactly what you’d expect from smallholder lots that haven’t been optimized for high-volume export. Embrace the charm—it’s part of what makes this experience an origin gem. Ideal for drip, plunge-press, espresso-based options, and cold brew (a must-try chilled).
