About the bean
Northern Peru’s “cloud-kissed” regions of Amazonas, Cajamarca, and Piura change dramatically over short distances. Here, humid flatlands climb up to cliffside ridges to form Andean cloud forests that often disappear into rolling mountain mist. These spectacular landscapes are where our new Peru FTO is grown by some of the more than 7,000 small-scale farming families that form the celebrated Norandino cooperative. Founded in 2005, Norandino works to strengthen community agriculture, advance sustainable practices, and create real opportunities for coffee growers. On modest farms shaded by native trees, families tap into traditional practices to hand-harvest Arabica varieties, washing and sun-drying them to ensure their distinctive character remains intact. Every lot is evaluated by Norandino’s certified cupping lab against rigorous international standards. This is single origin at its finest.
In the cup, our new lot from Norandino stands out for its clean, balanced sweetness—akin to brown sugar and panela with notes of chocolate and nuts—and a soft, approachable acidity. As always, this pick shines across brew methods: a lush and dessert-like result in French press, dense and bold as espresso, and especially enjoyable as a latte. Consistently excellent, with a smooth, lingering finish, this happy-making Peruvian has become a firm favourite.
