About the bean

Nestled in the Cauca Department of Colombia, the lofty Meseta de Popayán plateau is renowned for its exceptional coffee. Beans are cultivated in fertile lands surrounding the city of Popayán, where they thrive in ideal growing conditions. Celebrated for a mild flavour, bright acidity, and well-balanced profile, Popayán offerings typically express fruity and floral notes. Produced for the most part by small-scale, family-owned farms, the region is recognized for its commitment to sustainable and organic farming practices.

We are forever impressed by the consistency and flavour quality (even in large quantities) of coffee from here. Every single lot over the past few years has been excellent. No matter the roast profile, these beans are easy to work with and they always deliver. If you're a home-roaster, you don't need to track every variable or use the "right" equipment to obtain top-notch results. Popayán coffee makes it easy. We enjoyed this new batch in various ways and noticed the coffee's medium acidity, pleasant sweetness, and lovely cocoa flavour was more pronounced at a darker roast. The mouthfeel is smooth and bright, but not overwhelming. Once again, Popayán takes the #1 spot.
