Coffee has two main benefits for you skin; brightening your face, and de-puffing your eyes.

Impact of coffee on brightening skin

  • Both drinking coffee and washing your face with a coffee scrub can brighten your skin
  • A coffee scrub can brighten skin, prevent clogged pores, and soften lines
  • The acidity of coffee acts like a very, very mild chemical exfoliator
  • Coffee scrubs can help boost the skins protective barrier against bacteria, viruses, and fungi
  • Drinking coffee helps your skin due to the many antioxidants it contains

Impact of coffee on de-puffing eyes

  • Putting coffee on the skin dehydrates and constricts blood vessels
  • The skin under the eyes gets thinner as we age, and the blood vessels become more visible. Coffee constricting them will make them less visible
  • Most beauty products and cream that brighten and de-puff eyes will contain caffeine

Dermatologist, Julia Hunter, MD, believes that the antioxidants consumed when drinking coffee will brighten and improve skin. As well as this, using a coffee scrub can brighten skin, prevent clogged pores, and soften lines. As well as this, coffee is acidic, and therefore works as a very mild chemical exfoliator. On top of brightening the skin, coffee can help de-puff eyes. The skin under the eyes becomes thinner as we age, meaning that the blood vessels become more visible, leading to puffy eyes and bags. Putting coffee on the skin dehydrates and constricts the blood vessels, making them less visible. For this reason, the majority of beauty products that claim to de-puff and brighten eyes, and reduce bags under the eye will contain caffeine.1
